<b>Synopsis:</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i> <span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">An untested young princess must claim her throne, learn to become a queen, and combat a malevolent sorceress in an epic battle between light and darkness in this spectacular debut—the first novel in a trilogy.</span></i></div>
<i><br style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">Young Kelsea Raleigh was raised in hiding after the death of her mother, Queen Elyssa, far from the intrigues of the royal Keep and in the care of two devoted servants who pledged their lives to protect her. Growing up in a cottage deep in the woods, Kelsea knows little of her kingdom's haunted past . . . or that its fate will soon rest in her hands.</span></i><div>
<i><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><b>My Review: </b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">The story overall was great. The plot is good, I like the idea of it. The world is getting there. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">The only problem I really have is Kelsea. The main character should be a great example of the author's expertise. Kelsea should be a strong young woman making tough decisions about her new kingdom. At best, Kelsea is.... flimsy. She rules her kingdom just fine. Her morals are great. But some of the thoughts that pass through her head make me want to throw my phone off a cliff. Sometimes she's stern, then she's vain, then she's serious, then she's crazy and delusional. Also, she has no idea what her jewels are doing for her and doesn't want to take advantage of it. Nobody else asks about it either. They don't mention anything about them. She just let's them do what they do. Control that power! Take over the new world!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">I know a lot of people have problems with how the world is built; it is a story in the future, but it's more or less renaissance-esque. After a great pilgrimage, in which a lot of modern technology is "lost", not even heroin made it over. But the Red Queen somehow has cannons that fire gunpowder? I don't know. I liked it, but I didn't like it. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">Mace is my favorite character. Definitely. He is strong, mysterious, and has morals solid as gold. I'm glad he's not leaving. He needs to stay and make Kelsea stronger. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">So yeah, I will be reading the second book in this series, <i>The Invasion of The Tearling. </i></span></div>

<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><b>My Thoughts:</b></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">This book gripped me from the very beginning. I've always been interested in religious cults and how they function, ever since I first hear about the Westboro Baptist church horror stories. So the plot for this book seemed so interesting! And it was. I loved reading how Minnow went through this story and found out who she is and what she believes in. I found out afterwards that there is a story this book is based off of and I'd love to read that some time soon. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">So this guy named Kevin calls himself the Prophet, and her family follows him into the woods to start an entire new life. At first Minnow wholeheartedly believes him. He knows all the answers and talks to god and knows what's best for the village. Then later on, Minnow starts questioning everything he says, and realizes that it may not be what he says it is. She wants to know what the real world is. One night she is told she will be married to the prophet, and so she decides to run away. That night she meets her love interest, but is ultimately found, brought back to her village, and as punishment, her hands are cut off. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">That in itself is an amazing feature of this book; the main character has no hands to do anything with! While in juvi, she casually makes jokes about it, which lets you into her head a bit better. After that night, her entire personality starts to shift and change. It keeps on developing in juvi as well. She questions everything and tries to find out what she believes in. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">Probably the only thing I didn't like about this book was the ending. Through the entire book you are leading up to her 18th birthday, because on that day they will decide if she is free, or if she's going to real jail. You don't ever find out. Another thing that wasn't really tied up well was the love interest. You are pretty much led to believe he is out there in the wild, and he's going to starve to death, alone. What kind of a romance is that? I understand the reason behind Minnow falling out of love with him, but come on. I enjoyed that character and wanted much much more for him than that. What a cop out. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;">Other than those two things, this book was great and I recommend it to everyone!</span></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 13.8px; line-height: 19.32px;"><b><br /></b></span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsnGaOmrir83rwg2TLk8OatGGUFzXhqSTFNBVc9t1vqfneeL6DSDfk2Cx3dsDxUxbgNikWVrLwMY_lVG_E5_d2pus7XSXlgsx6HOVTD0wwOQ_xOZh_fAVCrTtP-zLMrcgtEy706n-CSefi/s1600/pththt.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="176" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsnGaOmrir83rwg2TLk8OatGGUFzXhqSTFNBVc9t1vqfneeL6DSDfk2Cx3dsDxUxbgNikWVrLwMY_lVG_E5_d2pus7XSXlgsx6HOVTD0wwOQ_xOZh_fAVCrTtP-zLMrcgtEy706n-CSefi/s320/pththt.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Things are kind of moving slowly, and I find myself skipping paragraphs at a time just to move the story along. Where's the action? <b>The only character I care about is Kelsea, nobody else. </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<u>The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly:</u><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ8X-ziHmZiDW7TMNnJq81qJvEb6w4U7y28GCtNJ5I0cWzgK_izfp1zJcFyPw0t40CSVORQ3LJF5kjTnmH1_TGPBBXs9lOJJ3BL10ctVflLYIxLqYMo0XLdwX754iJPnMIv-zQZu25zrVb/s1600/thumbs+up.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ8X-ziHmZiDW7TMNnJq81qJvEb6w4U7y28GCtNJ5I0cWzgK_izfp1zJcFyPw0t40CSVORQ3LJF5kjTnmH1_TGPBBXs9lOJJ3BL10ctVflLYIxLqYMo0XLdwX754iJPnMIv-zQZu25zrVb/s1600/thumbs+up.gif" /></a></div>
<br />
I love it and I love Minnow even though she killed the prophet and she's going to be in jail a long time but will they find out? She's at her breaking point emotionally right now (I'm about Halfway through) and it's getting pretty intense. I had to stop myself from reading the whole thing last night.<br />
<br />
<u>The Knife of Never Letting Go:</u><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Ummm..... It's a great idea, but what is going to happen? The language is a little hard to get used to. I'm going to keep reading eventually, but it doesn't grip me right now. :/jenjenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02713972701119228841noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4993130228806794065.post-73431037314597225042015-09-18T23:59:00.000-07:002015-09-19T00:04:20.826-07:00Books I've Read So Far This Year!!Here are all of (well, most of) the books that I've read this year! That ending was such a twist. I can't wait to start reading the second book of the series.<br />
<br />
Right now I'm currently reading Queen of The Tearling by Erika Johansen. it is a bit slow, but so is Outlander, and I love that book to pieces. It's about Kelsea, a girl who's just turned nineteen, and is brought back to the kingdom to be Queen. Kelsea's mother has died ten years before, and her uncle has been regent. The government has been crucially slanted for the rich. I'm not that far into it so far, but I am very interested in what Kelsea ends up doing.<br />
<br />
<br />
I'm also reading The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. It's very odd to me that all their thoughts are heard at all times. I am very excited to see where this book goes, but the use of language is a bit hindering, because the main character is poorly educated. I just have to get used to it.jenjenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02713972701119228841noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4993130228806794065.post-88639586833541330912015-09-17T08:49:00.003-07:002015-09-17T08:49:37.290-07:00Book Spotlight!! - Spinner by Michael J Bowler<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b>The Wraith of Carter's Mill </b><br />
<b>by C. Evenfall</b><br />
<b>Genre:</b> Fantasy, Paranormal suspense<br />
<b><br />
</b> <b><br />
</b> <b><br />
</b> An extremely cruel act by a family patriarch brings a terrible curse, an insidious wraith upon his family. <br />
<br />
It haunts the Carter women for five generations until finally; Shyanne is born with remarkable and uncanny abilities. It will be up to her to uncover a shocking, long-buried family secret. She faces the daunting task of setting a century old wrong back to rights. Will she find a way to lift the curse and banish the wraith back to the spirit world? If Shyanne fails, she risks losing her little girl to the dark entity forever.<br />
<br /></div>
<br />
<h3>
<u><br />
</u><u>My Review:</u></h3>
<div>
So, I do like the fact that this is a collection of all the short stories. However, I DNF'ed this book. I just didn't have the time to finish it. I got to book three, finished that, and started the last one, but I can't do it in time.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What I did read, I really enjoyed! The first two stories felt a bit too formal and the wording didn't flow that well, but that's the only thing I really didn't like about it. Otherwise it was a great read! I was in love with each of the women that the book followed. I was intrigued by the spirits of the dead helping them out and guiding them. I think my favorite character has to be Old Isaiah. He's just such a wise man who's been through so much. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also liked how in book two, Shyanne was very perceptive of every little thing going on between her friends. It really did feel like she was a "sensitive" in more than one sense of the word. she picked up on small hints and saw things others didn't. I can also understand why she would want to shut out her "powers" after what happened at the party that night. I would too! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The little girl on the intersection though.... that was never explained. I don't see how it could have been in the fourth story either. Who was she and why was she only ever there in the morning? I really was intrigued by that. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The third story, "Forgotten" was my favorite out of all of them. Started off with action and heated emotions and things happening. It didn't start slow like the others. Then it keeps you in suspense with the disappearance of Shyanne and the daughter's coma. It had the perfect closure at the end too. I feel like it should have been the last story, not the third, because when I finished it, I thought "What else could possibly happen?" </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<u>My Rating:</u></h3>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="http://www.tukui.org/addons/skins/default/images/star_full.gif" width="35px" /><img src="http://www.tukui.org/addons/skins/default/images/star_full.gif" width="35px" /><img src="http://www.tukui.org/addons/skins/default/images/star_full.gif" width="35px" /><img src="http://www.tukui.org/addons/skins/default/images/star_full.gif" width="35px" /><br />
<br />
Four out of five stars! I will definitely be finishing this one soon.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 19.5px; text-align: left;">C. Evenfall grew up on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. In many ways, her community was isolated from the outside world, and time simply stood still. The old ways of “doing things” surrounded her, and she was both fascinated by the rich history and influenced by it.</span></div>
<span style="background-color: white;"></span><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 19.5px; text-align: left;">As with any such place, the area was rich with ghost lore and old tales of “people done wrong.” C. Evenfall, a child seen and not heard, hovered as close as she dared, listening to the old stories when the adults got together talking about old times. She also spent many nights with the sheet pulled over her head in childish fright.</span></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 19.5px; text-align: left;">

</span></div>
</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; line-height: 19.5px; text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: justify;">
A paranormal encounter when she was just six years old, experienced by two other people at the same time, convinced her that ghosts really did exist. C. Evenfall has been seeking answers ever since. Her fascination with the unexplainable, coupled with her love of history and southern culture and the role women play in both, have inspired her to write The Wraith of Carter’s Mill, a series of novellas. Each inspired by tales from her childhood and the family members who passed them down.</div>

<b><i>I'm stranded on Mars.</i> </b><br />
<br />
<i>I have no way to communicate with Earth.<br />
<br />
I’m in a Habitat designed to last 31 days.<br />
<br />
If the Oxygenator breaks down, I’ll suffocate. If the Water Reclaimer breaks down, I’ll die of thirst. If the Hab breaches, I’ll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I’ll eventually run out of food and starve to death.<br />
<br />
So yeah. I’m screwed.</i></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: large;">My Review</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">This book was an adventure! I was hooked to it as soon as I started reading. Oddly enough, I didn't read it because it's becoming a movie. I read it because it caught my attention. The movie is just a bonus. :)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">The first thing you notice about this book is there is a lot of technical stuff going on. The main character is an engineer and a botanist. So he's logging journal entries to keep himself sane, and goes through the processes of things he does to stay alive. If you're not scientifically inclined, you might get a little bored, but it's all really easy to understand what he's doing. Towards the end it gets a bit monotonous, and they skip over the whole tearing-apart-a-spaceship thing near the end, but all in all it's very interesting and fun to read. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">The main Character is the main key factor holding all this together. If Mark Watney were just another NASA guy, there wouldn't be a book and a movie. He is a sarcastic asshole who jokes and kids along the way. Here's some quotes so you guys can understand why I giggled the whole way through this book. </span></div>

I have a lot on my plate this month. There are a lot of "scheduled reading", but I'm going to try to read books I want to read as well, so that I don't feel like I'm in school. Have you guys read any of these books? If so, how did you like them?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1413706054l/18007564.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1413706054l/18007564.jpg" width="131" /></a></div>
The first book is obviously The Martian by Andy Weir. I'm only about halfway through. It's about Watney, an astronaut stranded on mars for years. Years. He finds ways to survive because he is an engineer and a botanist. But the fun part; he's a sarcastic asshole. His personality gives this book it's distinct flavor. Without Watney, this would be another scifi about living on mars all by yourself. This is probably one of my favorites for the year, just for Watney. I'm in love with this book and can't put it down. I will definitely be doing a review on this one soon.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1426337622l/25140384.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1426337622l/25140384.jpg" width="131" /></a></div>
Next I'm reading The Wraith of Carter's Mill by c Evenfall. This is a supernatural book, about a family curse that's been passed down generations. I'm not exactly sure of this is the entire series, or the last of the series, but it's about Julia, who torments her possesed sister Susie. Then after Julia dies, her daughter Libby and granddaughter Shyanne discover their powers to see the spirits around them, and be transported into visions of the past. It all revolves around this little black shadow man which is the curse. It's a very interesting read, not bad at all. I'll be doing a blog our for this book on the 6th. Yes, Sunday!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1436383471l/25873786.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1436383471l/25873786.jpg" width="125" /></a></div>
<br />
Another blog tour coming up is for Splintered Souls by Erica Lucke Dean. This is a story about a girl who gives up her dreams of going to a huge university, so she and her mother and little brother can move to a family home in Main. Her father has just died of a heart attack, and knows that her mother can't cope with her leaving too. So she stays with them in her grandmother's house, where something is amiss. It is another generational book, but I think this one is more of a butterfly affect thing instead of a curse. I've not gotten far into it, but I will be reading it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1428951414l/25353531.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1428951414l/25353531.jpg" width="133" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is a book about a handicapped boy with healing powers. He's called a spinner, and his grandmother is using him to heal the children she beats. There are people out there who want him for his powers, and he has to find a way to live safely. I don't know much more about this book, there are good reviews on it though.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348958049l/712511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348958049l/712511.jpg" width="125" /></a></div>
I have recently discovered that my favorite type of books are in a journal or letter format. So I've decided to take this book off my bookshelf and read it. It's a memoir I think? About a colored woman in an interesting predicament and how her race affects things in her life. I'm excited to read this one as soon as I finish The Martian. It has a lot of good reviews so it seems promising!jenjenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02713972701119228841noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4993130228806794065.post-78856157231423219892015-08-29T10:23:00.000-07:002015-09-01T13:23:37.301-07:00August wrap up! Hi guys! I'm here with a wrap up of what I've read in the month of August. I only finished two books, Love Letters to the Dead. I've already told you guys about that one. Not gonna write about it for the third time.<br />
<br />
I also read A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness on my Iphone. I finished it in about three days. It's the first Patrick Ness book I've ever read, and it was really good. I feel like this book is geared more towards middle grade, but even for that, it was a good read. Now I want to read his YA and see how good that it.<br />

Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment or plain-old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—& a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. <br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I was chosen by X<a href="http://www.xpressobooktours.com/">presso Book Tours </a> to read this book and give an honest review on it! My rating is 2 out of 5 stars. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This book is about a vampire named Adam, a vampire hunter names Jesus, and a girl named Olivia. Both boys like the girl, but obviously hate each other. The girl is trying to write a vampire novel but can't get any ideas. So she makes a deal with a vampire. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The structure of the vampire world is much like in twilight, honestly. They can eat, they just don't because it's inconvenient, they always have money and don't care what they spend it on, they aren't allowed to hunt, there are feeding stations, and there's someone who "enforces" the "laws" but no vampire knows who that is. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The hunter, Jesus, we know everything about from the get go. We get a couple of chapters of his <b>entire life. </b>From crossing the border to losing his parents and friend, and then we get a whole chapter dedicated to his training in Jiu Jitsu! Unnecessary in my opinion, so I just skipped all those chapters after a while. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In general, the story wasn't that great because of one main reason: There's no suspense at all. The author gives you everything and you're not guessing anything at all because all the motives are painted on the sidewalk with neon paint. I felt no urge to come back to the book. No pull. There's other characters, and we get the entire backstory for Elowyn, a stripper. Then I read this sentence. </div>

BUT! It was an important book and a real experience that I didn't expect.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1390036655l/18140047.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1390036655l/18140047.jpg" width="211" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>This book. You guys. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
So this book was a great one. Not the best, mind you. I did get pretty annoyed by how immature the main character was throughout 75% of the story. But I liked this book because of the concept, and the fact that I went through depression in my childhood. So reading this book felt like watching my past self go through all of it again. It was a difficult read at some parts.<br />
Love Letters To The Dead is about Laurel, a girl who goes through grief after losing her sister, May. In class she is assigned to write a letter to someone who is dead. So she does, and keeps doing so throughout the entire school year. She writes to people who inspire her, or mean something to her life.<br />
I bought the ebook version, and finished it in about three days. I cried at the epilogue. I don't really know what else to say.<br />
<br />
That's all I read during the Bout of Books, really. I read a little bit of Outlander, and I'm currently reading A Monster Calls. Both fantastic books. The second one is also about death, but before it happens, and the grief and anger that comes with expecting the death of a loved one. It's also a great read.<br />
<br />

Then an hour before leaving for work I downloaded a couple of books to my phone from Amazon. The one I've been reading today is <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18803062-love-letters-to-the-dead">Love Letters to the Dead, by Ava Dellaira. </a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1384362057l/18803062.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1384362057l/18803062.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm only 10% through this book, and I already love it. I also hate it. I lost my mom when i was nine years old, and for most of the three years afterwards, I don't remember much of anything. This book is putting me back into those three years of coping with the grief and going through life. I already know I'll be crying by the end of it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If I need to, I'll stop reading it and pick up Outlander instead, because that book makes me happy and warm on the inside from all the cute fun love stuff. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Are you guys participating in this readathon? If so, what are you reading? </div>

I don't know if this book is considered a "classic", but it's at least 50 years old. So that counts right?</span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">

I'm sure I'll love the next book in the chronicles even more, if he would only write it.<br />3.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">N64: A book that changed how you see the world. <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">That would be the book <a data-mce-href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5470.1984?from_search=true&search_version=service" href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5470.1984?from_search=true&search_version=service" style="color: #57ad68; text-decoration: none;">1984 by George Orwell.</a> I did hate the ending of this book, but the rest of it changed me. It reminded me of our society today, with the blind devotion to pop stars or political figures, and how the government pretty much always knows what we're doing. How even his <em>thoughts</em> are monitored! Everything is controlled, and they have you on a very short leash. I was frightened by the ferocity of this book.<br /><span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;"><span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">4.</span>Gamecube: A popular book that you did not like. <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">That would have to be an <a data-mce-href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49750.An_Abundance_of_Katherines?from_search=true&search_version=service" href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49750.An_Abundance_of_Katherines?from_search=true&search_version=service" style="color: #57ad68; text-decoration: none;">Abundance of Katherines</a> by John Green. I did read The Fault In Our Stars, and I did enjoy that one. But for this book, it seems like John wants you to feel stupid on purpose. I get it, this guy is smart. He speaks three languages, does graphs for fun, all that sort of stuff. But then there are graphs in the book, representing why the main character has been dumped by Katherine #1, Katherine #2, Katherine #3..... It's all really unnecessary and stupid. I don't like the book at all.<br /><span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;"><span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">5.</span>Wii: A new favorite book of yours. <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">That would have to be <a data-mce-href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10964.Outlander?from_search=true&search_version=service" href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10964.Outlander?from_search=true&search_version=service" style="color: #57ad68; text-decoration: none;">Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon!</a> I am IN LOVE with this book, even though it's over 800 pages long and it's taken about a month to get through half of it. I still love it with every fiber of my being. Honestly, it's a much better read than the famous Game of Thrones series. Much easier to keep track of. I will compare these two books in a later post, I think.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">6.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Nintendo Power: A Graphic Novel series you want to start.</span> <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;">I think I'm gonna go with <a data-mce-href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23754.The_Sandman_Vol_1" href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23754.The_Sandman_Vol_1" style="color: #57ad68; text-decoration: none;">Sandman, </a>written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg & Malcolm Jones III. One reason being that it's Neil Gaiman, and I've never read anything of his, But I always here good things about his writing. Everyone I've seen just idolizes him. Is he really that good? But I digress; The plot of this series seems so interesting! dream captured, then a generation later he escapes and gives his captor nightmares? I like the concept of it.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">7.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Super Mario: A character you'd like to squish like a Goomba: </span><span data-mce-style="color: #000000;">That would have to be The Commandant from An Ember in the Ashes. I have already done a review on this book, so I'll leave out the synopsis.... But yeah, she's pretty evil. I hope she gets her head cut off.</span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">8.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Zelda: A modern book that you consider to be a classic: <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">That would have to be The Name of the Wind! I already linked it in a previous question. But yes, I do consider this to be a modern classic. Why? The concept is original. The characters are original. It is a deep-set and fully involved world. There is a lot more we have to learn, which I hope we do in the third book, whenever it comes out. </span></span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">9.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Samus: A scifi that you want to read. <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">Hands down, it is <a data-mce-href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23395680-illuminae?from_search=true&search_version=service" href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23395680-illuminae?from_search=true&search_version=service" style="color: #57ad68; text-decoration: none;">Illuminae</a> by Amie Kaufman. I do want to read it for the plot. I also want to OWN it, because the actual hardcover of the book is decorated and that's just rare. </span></span></span><br />
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">10.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Pokemon: Book edition you'd like to collect. <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">The only edition collection I really really would like to own is the Rebel edition of the Hunger Games trilogy. These books are beautiful. </span></span></span></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">
<img alt="" class="aligncenter" data-mce-src="https://thehunt.insnw.net/app/public/system/zine_images/6775587/original/43a92927dfda1fb80bbffb3274af5f71.jpg" height="395" src="https://thehunt.insnw.net/app/public/system/zine_images/6775587/original/43a92927dfda1fb80bbffb3274af5f71.jpg" style="clear: both; display: block; margin: 5px auto 10px;" width="527" /></div>
<div style="font-family: 'PT Serif', Georgia, serif; line-height: 29.4500007629395px; margin-bottom: 1em;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">11. <span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Donkey Kong: A book with original Characters. <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">I'm gonna go with the Inheritance Cycle. More importantly, <a data-mce-href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/113436.Eragon?from_search=true&search_version=service" href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/113436.Eragon?from_search=true&search_version=service" style="color: #57ad68; text-decoration: none;">Eragon by Christopher Paolini.</a> I read this series while in high school, and you get so invested with the characters. I'm so surprised that this series has so many negative reviews about it! And they're not bashing the story... but the author himself. Yeah, his writing isn't the best, and his descriptions go on and on, but the world is so well built. There's an entire society you follow in this book. At least four races, and all of them have relations, good or bad, with others. Eragon grows throughout the series with Saphira, his dragon. A lot goes on in these books and I am very fond of them. </span></span></span><br />
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small;">12.<span data-mce-style="color: #ff0000;" style="color: red;">Nintendo Fandom: Your favorite nintendo games! <span data-mce-style="color: #000000;" style="color: black;">Everyone loves Nintendo games! My favorites would have to be Ocarina of Time, the most recent Smash game, and Pokemon Crystal version. What are your favorites?</span></span></span></div>
